A New Perspective

Hence the title, I got new glasses since my old perscriptions were causing a bit of strain, but we are feeling better now and kicking into overdrive! Don't worry there will be a photo at the very end with the new glasses, don't get too excited yet you still have to drag through this email. But lets move on shall we.

This past week... I'll be completely honest it has been a struggle here. Not going to lie, my hardest area yet since being in the mission field. My companion and I go straight to the mission office to make sure everything in the mission moves forward and everyone's jobs are easier... Then we go into our teaching area and try and find people. In my entire time here, its been 4 months now we have found only a couple people that would let us teach them. And they all dont want to meet anymore. Its been hard, but thats where faith comes in I guess. It tests you, your work ethic, your testimony, and just the faith to find one person who will listen.

Now I dont want you reading this and leaving away feeling negative and down because poor Elder Brimhall cant find someone to teach in southern California. I have been questioning a lot of things, and ton of things actually. And it all comes back to the fact that I know who God is, and He knows what I am capable of. I dont know how long I'll last, but He knows how long I'll last out here. When times get hard, its a piece a cake to throw in the towel. But you want to know what is hard? That fact that YOU are STILL trying, STILL holding to that Iron Rod, STILL hoping that you will see that success... But it doesnt end there, not until we leave this life. If you know God lives, and you are His son or daughter, and you know Jesus Christ is your personal Savior. Than why give up... I have spiritual brothers and sisters that dont know Him yet.

I apologize for my email this week but I could not "sugarcoat" this past week. Its has been rough, but its helping me grow. I'll let you all know when someone does give God a chance and lets His messengers feel that joy that comes from preaching the gospel. I love you all and pray for you dearly. Until next time. Keep cool out there, this summer heat will not win!!

Hey Momma,

So to start off. Yes I did get my new glasses and I got a check to get the money refunded on my card, the machine wasnt working so I'll drop by the bank sometime and get that checked in. No new updates on my eyes, when I went to pick up the glasses and get them situated the doctor wasnt in so its alright. My eyes feel better and have pretty much no strain with the new perscriptions, still trying to get adjusted to the new vision but otherwise its good!

Glad to hear y'all are having fun over here in California, and up in Nevada, and now in Utah! So many places in so little time. Its crazy I'm now trying to think back when the last time I saw my cousins up there and it was only last year but it feels like ages ago... Odd how time works out here. I gave Bryson a little "tips and tricks" for EFY so hopefully that helps out the experience for him. Dances might be a little off for him, but the good thing is no one there knows how to dance so everyone is awkward, perfect right?

Theres not much that happened one this side over here. We had two zone conferences as usual, one for the desert and one for the valley, so its pretty neat though that we get to go to both and I personally get something new everytime. But while on the way up the desert it was great to look back and see my first area while we were passing by there in Victorville. Its kind of weird though driving up there every now and then, but its always a trip. Elder Bryner and I have been trying to switch up more of our approaches and we are trying to use Family History now, more of a last resort, to help people get interested in what we do as missionaries but also to openly show why families are important to us.

I got one photo for you. Sorry for never being able to take more photos but I hope I can actually get myself to take some more often. I'll have Elder Bryner remind me every morning or something so I dont forget. Otherwise no promises, but I am committing myself to take more! Otherwise have fun in Utah, I bet it'll be fun seeing family and friends up there. Let everyone know I said "Hi!". LOVE YA MOMMA, have fun and be safe!!

Question Time: 1. My week was definitely interesting, I'll tell you about it in a bit later on in this email. 2. I have no idea yet, I'll be in the office tomorrow so I'll look for it and see if it came in the mail. We don't open those suckers until later and its going to be quite a hassle trying to figure these things out before we roll out ALL the smartphones to all the missionaries but I am looking forward to it and seeing the success that can be found. And yes I will be becoming a Facebook missionary, whoopdy doo for you! 3. Ideas for him? Well I was thinking of trying to get him something but I keep running out of time and forgetting but don't tell him that. I LOVE HIM, just shipping is really expensive... But maybe something that I thought of is giving him a book series called Mystborn or another series by Brandon Sanderson, I heard his books are really awesome and I'll probably read them when I get back. I honestly don't know, you know better th...

Hi Momma!

Yeah I am in a new area, and in a new apartment which is a lot nicer than the older one I stayed in, just has a lot more room (I forgot to take pictures which I promise to do that). It's just me and Elder de La Torre in this apartment. From what I can tell you Elder de La Torre is from Las Vegas, Nevada which is super close to our mission and it turns out he is actually a "trial missionary" and he might be staying in this mission or be called to somewhere else. His mom is a member and his father is currently investigating in the church so it's pretty cool. He loves music and played in a mariachi band for a little while and did orchestra so he is pretty awesome, and he speaks fluent spanish which helps when we run into a lot of spanish speaking people here in Ontario.  Yeah it is kind of crazy how fast time has flown by honestly, I feel like I've been here for awhile even though I haven't and even though the end is far away it seems to be coming up kind of qu...

Did You Think to Pray? I actually took pictures this week. And for some odd reason this computer is denying me the right to access those photos... Hold back the pitchforks for now, I'll fix the problem sometime soon. But besides from that one. The title comes from a praying mantis I saw while knocking on doors. I went to go ring a doorbell and there is this giant praying mantis guarding the bell. I ended up not wanting to fight the thing and knocked on the door. Something our mission does every transfer (which is a six week period of time kept by missionaries), we have this thing called a zone conference. And all the missionaries here in the desert got together. Which is always a fun experience being out for little over 13 months now seeing people I've grown to meet and love during my time here and catching up with them. But the whole reason we got together was to learn and grow in our service out here. And something that stuck out to me was learning to set goals, but mo...
